London Days 1.5

So it is actually starting on day 3 of our vacation. Day included mostly travel and Day 2 a trip to Canterbury.

The flight out was good, if long. We had a toddler and a baby sitting next to us; which ended up being okay but was a bit of a bummer because we thought we were leaving all that behind for the week :-)

It took us around three hours to get from the plane to our townhouse because half of the underground was closed for maintenance. Once we finally got to the townhouse we were hungry. So we went to Chapel Street Market and looked around and then to a Thai place to meet.

That was pretty much it for the first day, we were in bed by 7pm.

The second day we struggled with the National Rail; which also had numerous shutdowns for maintenance. So far I am not impressed with the NAtional Rail's ease of use. The times posted for departure don't match the actual departure times and apparently they don't post actually departure times anywhere....

As a result of the above we had to take a bus for half of the journey to Canterbury. When we finally got to Canterbury it was very cold and windy. The hat, gloves, and coat weren't hacking it so I ran into H&M to buy a sweatshirt; after that life was better :-)

We went to Canterbury Cathedral which was very cool and to St. Augustine's Abbey. We tried to go to the Canterbury Museum but it was closed. Canterbury was a cute little place, a lot of very old building and a nice pedestrians street past numerous stores and cafes.

After all that we took the Rail back to London and took the Underground to Oxford street where lots of good shopping is. Cate and I spent a couple hours going through stores while Lyle and Chris tagged along. Found some good stuff at H&M and at New Look.

Then back to the house to drop off our purchases. Out to a little Italian cafe for dinner, stop by the bakery for dessert and back home again. We spent some time planning for today and that was pretty much it, bed by 9pm :-)

Today is a long one we are taking a tour to Stonehenge, Bath, and Windsor castle. Should be a lot of fun stuff to see.

Back home it sounds like Keegan is a little upset with us for leaving him, but he is doing well overall. He sure does love spending time with his grandparents and Auntie Kimmie!

Anyway almost time to go walk to the tour stop. Hope you all have a good day.
