The Big Move

On Friday we did Keegan's "big move". We finally moved him from the upstairs open "nursery" to his bedroom downstairs. I finished that pesky mural which you can see here: http://picasaweb.google.com/UtherPup/2008RoomPainting#5254578728483166002

Moving him down was more work than I thought it would be. We ended up needing to do some stuff in his bedroom that we had forgotten about. Silly little things: like a plate for wiring in the ceiling, a closure for the hole in the wall where the sewage access is, fixing and mounting the drawer in his closet...you know little stuff.
We moved the big stuff down, Keegan thought that part was a lot of fun. Then it was all the other stuff like blankets, cloths, toys. Then I was fussy about other things. I wanted everything in a place that felt right to me. I wanted his pictures hung up and all the odd things I have collected for his room set up. Then I realized that some of the wall still looked pretty darn bare. Well we can't have that, so this weekend it was off to Ikea to get some cute kids bookshelves to hang on the wall (among a billion other fun things for Keegan). I couldn't believe all the stuff we ended up with. There are just so many cool kids things there.

Anyway, Keegan took to his new room instantly. He loves it! We have had no trouble with him sleeping down there; he actually seems to sleep better because the cats don't bug him. He is still waking up once in a while at 4am hungry. The last couple days also sucked because he is getting more molars in and he bangs his head a lot at night and moans. I feel bad for him but what can you do, the kids been on Tylenol for the last two days cause it seems to help with this.

Now that his bedroom is set up downstairs we are finding somethings are easier and some things are not as easily done. Like walking down to his bedroom in the middle of the night if he gets upset seriously sucks. I usually sleep though him though, so that is more an issue for Lyle. It's nice now that we don't have to sneak around upstairs so that we don't wake him up. It is also nice that we were able to turn the "nursery" into a playroom. That way the toys are out of the living room and Keegan has more space to play. So all-in-all it's been awesome.

We had a busy weekend. Saturday we went to Baby Loves Disco, which was fun. Keegan didn't dance much because he was too absorbed watching the other kids dance. He did love the bubbles, the hula-hoops, and the egg-shakers though. The food was okay and the neat lighting was fun. We stayed for 2.5 out of the 3 hours. When we left and got outside the nightclub then Keegan finally decided to dance back to the car :-) The photographer there pulled me over to let me know she got some really cute pics of Keegan. As soon as they are up we will send some links to them. Until then you can look at the pictures we took here: http://picasaweb.google.com/UtherPup/2008OctoberBabyLovesDisco#

Sunday we got up to meet some friends for brunch and then drove out to Afton Apple Orchard. Luckily it stopped raining as we got out there. It was even sunny for a while. Keegan loved the apples and pumpkins. He enthusiastically screamed "Apple!!!" and "Pumpkin!!!" more times than I can count. He absolutely loved the hayride, loved eating the apples, and had a great time at the petting zoo. It was awesome. After that we stopped by Ikea to get all of the above mentioned stuff for Keegan's room and playroom. Here are some pics of that:

It was a busy weekend, but we had a ton of fun.
