Vacation Up North Day 4

Today we managed to sleep in until about 9am. By the time we finally got our behinds out of the lodge is was 10am. We decided to stop by the Vanilla Bean bakery for breakfast and get muffins. My muffin was burnt and dry and yucky. This made me crabby and I ended up throwing it out and grumbling. Lyle suggested we stop by the Rustic Inn Cafe for breakfast instead. So we did. The breakfast I got here was fantastic, wild rice and cranberry french toast, and made me happy again.

We drove of to Split Rock State park and used the GPS unit that we had gotten from the lodge to find the geo cache here. It was at the top of day Hill; a very nice hike with a beautiful view of Lake Superior at the top of the hill. We took another small hike to another outlook; this lead to the old Cornumdum mines but the outlook wasn't great. Then back to the car.

We decided to go back to the lodge. Worked on the puzzle, took a nap, sat by the lake and read some. Of course while I decided to take a nap, they decided to mow the lawn which was a bit annoying but I slept nonetheless.

Then I changed into nicer cloths and we started the 1.5 hr drive up to Lutsen. We got up there in plenty of time (Lyle likes to drive fast and pass people). Met up with our friends in the lobby. I got the programs from Bianca and packed those away in the car. They are getting married down by the lake. So while they rehearsed, we collected some rocks and then Lyle and others stood behind the rehearsal making strange faces and poses in the background of the pictures. Very mature. Of course I do think Bianca will think that is hilarious when she looks at the pictures.

After that it was time for dinner. It was a BBQ but the bonfire was cancelled because of a big store blowing through. It didn't start raining until 7:30pm or so and then BBQ was under a tent so it ended up being okay. We left around 8:30pm. It was raining really hard on our drive back, I am glad Lyle was driving. When we got back we ran past the main lodge to get some hot chocolate and then can back and finished the puzzle. After the puzzle we watched the movie "The Fall" which was interesting, if a bit slow. Then off to bed by 12:30am. Tomorrow will be a busy day.
