Well this morning Keegan had his 2 month appointment; he's actually 8 weeks so he's a bit behind schedule. When I called to make his two month the pediatrician was booked out for 1.5 months and our GP was booked out 2 weeks. So he had his 2 month a bit late.
Anyway, all appears to be in order with the big Kee. And he is the BIG Kee. His length was 23.75 inches which is 75th percentile. His weight was 14 lbs 8 ounces which is 95th percentile. I guess that's why we call him our little porker :-)
Our doctor checked him all out and everything looks good. Keegan had a great time and giggled and smiled at the doctor through most of the appointment. Then came the event Keegan and I had dreaded (okay, I don't think Keegan knew it was coming). Keegan had to get his shots. Two nurses came in and first they administered the oral vaccine. Keegan did really well with this. He made some funny faces at the nurses and then was all smiles again. They held his little calves down to prep his big thunder thighs for the shots. He was going to get to shots in each thigh. Too bad nobody informed him of this; I mean I did tell him what was going on but there wasn't much comprehension there...
So, up to this point Keegan is still thinking the doctor's office is awesome; there are so many people to smile at :-) Then BAM, the nurses give him two shots in each leg very quickly. Poor Keegan had a momentary look of shock on his face and then the smiles were gone. He screamed and screamed. He stopped to look at me with his bottom lip quivering as if to say "mom, why did you let them do that??!!" and then he screamed some more.
Let me tell you I felt like a real heel about the whole thing. As I left the doctor's office with my still whimpering/crying baby everyone there seemed to know what had gone on. Keegan got a lot of "ahhs", "oh, poor baby", and even some little chuckles as we hightailed it into the car. Once we got into the car he subsided but I kept hearing little sniffles coming from the backseat. Man did I ruin his day. He was having such a great time too. Finally he fell asleep. He is still sleeping as I type. Hopefully he can sleep off most of the vaccinations.
Anyway, other than that things have been going really well. Keegan's a great baby and he is starting to really take notice of his toys. He really likes to kick at things that play music or light up when he kicks them. He seems to understand that when the music stops if he kicks it again the music will start again. It's been fun to see him figure stuff out; I imagine it will only get more fun as his increases his interaction with the world.
Well I have to get in some hours for work. Yep I am back at work half time and that is a whole other story. Thank goodness for my mom who has been watching Keegan when I am at work. I am so happy that he can stay with her; it makes me feel good to know that someone is taking care of him that loves him so much!
Talk to ya'll later.
